Special report

What is meant by special reports?

In Germany, there is the so-called monopoly commission on the political level, which arranges itself with various expert opinions regarding national economic cycles in various sectors. This is expressly not meant here with special appraisals.

Rather, it should go here in terms of content and technical very sophisticated reports that specialize in the subject of "rail transport".

There are many possibilities for this purpose, which are specifically geared to the needs of rail transport:For example, there are so-called management solutions in railway traffic, which plans and controls the maintenance of track networks. This is then displayed via visualization of the rail network and all infrastructure objects. With regard to an opinion for such vehicles, the evaluations of such systems as interface can be of crucial importance, especially when it comes to the capture of the vehicle data or even the vehicle history.

In this case, data of the driving speed, wheel circumference speed and diameter u.v.a. to carry. Of course, this also includes the respective weather conditions because a frozen or wet rail has a different material property than a dry one.

Of course, this also affects the braking behavior and a stopping distance.

TRAIN GENES

Introduction of European state railways, from which the concept of certain train genera was evoked.

Train runs are only announced there by train numbers, or names, as well as departure times and destinations in public timetables.

Basically, train types are first distinguished between your speed, your size (train length) and the holding or stopping.

The railway and the rail traffic

  •     railway companies
  •     The vehicles / rail vehicles
  •     Railway and network operations
  •     Electric trains
  •     Securing technology in the railway
  •     Testing stations and lifting measurements

For each of these individual points again sub-items can be entered, which represent an overall very complex system.

                                                  rail operations
Systems, approvals, regulations, company regulations, architectural developments, visual and functional tests of railway technical systems
Wheel / rail system

Wheel profiles, damage analysis and material strengths, design development, handling, wheel-to-rail system ratings, types of wheel, track types, track tests.

                                                      rail vehicles

                                                     Electric trains

Systems and components and their design, performance calculations, simulation of railway energy, test measurements

                                         Securing technology in the railway

Electronic interlocking and its data, support and process documentation

Examination procedure and Anhube
(Catenary lift and vehicle approvals according to DIN EN 50317)

Measuring method of the overhead lines, software evaluations div. Messtools

The train

Each of us knows that a suburban train or a train has a very special requirement for acceleration and stopping distances.

The moving mass of a rail vehicle is many times different than a road vehicle.

Thus, the physical limits of an accident are completely different and very special.

This requires a very high level of technical know-how and understanding.

These include e.g. used resources, existing material, but ultimately also the human factor.

How complex and complicated such procedures are, can be identified by the possible causes of accidents that do not arise in road vehicles in this form. Ultimately, it must include applications and considerations that are not considered in road traffic accidents.

It does not matter whether we consider the consideration of the standard gauge, the so-called meter gauge with its track gauge of 998 mm or other narrow tracks.

Accident investigations in rail traffic A special feature, also for the appraiser. Thus, the law of a reorganization of the railway accident investigation, namely with effect from 27.06.2017 as federal agency for railway accident investigation (BEU) was set up recently. This should investigate what dangerous events can be established in railway operations. This independent higher federal authority in the business area of the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure has in the core area the sovereign task to promote hazard investigations and thus danger prevention.

The seat and structure of the authority as well as the transfer of the tasks and activities of the former Federal Bureau of Railway Accident Investigation (EUB) are newly regulated in a ministerial organizational decree establishing the Federal Institute for Railway accident investigation. However, the relevant regulations for dangerous events in the rail traffic of the 2009 General Regulation remain unchanged.

In addition to the establishment of this authority, with the amendment of the General Railway Act (AEG) and the Federal Railways Traffic Administration Act (BEVVG) in particular Powers of the authority and duties of cooperation of the railways specified data protection regulations supplemented and European law requirements of Chapter V of Directive (EU) 2016/798 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11.05.2016 on railway safety have been transposed into national law.

Further and more detailed information can be obtained from the Federal Bureau of Railway Accident Investigation.
